I was updating a product description in the admin console. I was working on this for 40 minutes or more. I had everything just so, hit save and was met with the admin login page. I logged back in to find none of my info stored. I wasn't idle; I was actively using the website to update, but I was still timed out of the admin side without any knowledge or forewarning.

Needless to say, I'm annoyed. This is the 2nd or 3rd time it has happened this week. I like to keep our product info updated and make sure the information is accurate based on websites, industry reference materials, etc, all accessed online, so I need that time to do what I need to do.

Here are a few questions:

What is the the maximum time allowed for admin users to update their product pages?

Would it be too much to ask for a little popup that asks if I'm still there, like they do at bank websites?? And give us the option to extend our working time.

Is my only option is to lay everything out on a word doc and cut and paste?

A quick reply would be appreciated.

I completely agree with you... we have had similar problems while making modifications to the theme, store settings etc.

We have considered this and will look at the posibility of adding a "timeout counter" on the admin.

I feel your pain...it happened to me too.  I'm not sure where it's at, but somewhere you can lengthen the amount of time the admin will stay open before it requires a re-login.  Now mine is open for 24 hours before I have to login again.  Since I work at home with my 3 year old, I'm often called away in the middle of a project and the ability to keep the admin active longer was a necessity. 

 

I found it!

It's here:

VOImports > Store Settings > Advanced

 

in the Admin Session Timeout box, key in tha amount of minutes you want. I put in 360 minutes- 6 hours should be long enough for me to do the work I need.
