    Wish List help

Is there a way to customize the wish list pages?  I would like to add more text for instructions.

Is there anything in the works regarding gift registries or is the wish list it?  My store has dozens of registries and it's a major part of my business.  The existing wish list isn't as user friendly as I'd like it to be.

    Re: Wish List help

You should be able to add text to the header and footer of the wishlist page via the theme.  Pick your active theme, then pick wishlist on the left nav, add a custom html snapin to the header or footer and add any text or images you would like to see on the page.

    Re: Wish List help

Is there a standard set of instruction on how to use the wishlist? I find it very confusing. I have played with it a few times, but I haven't quite figured out all the perks.

Does anyone have these on their site? This feature really needs instructions on how to setup and use the wishlist. This should be on the feature, but I can add it as a snap in.

Is there anyway to see if anyone has setup a wish list and what's in it? I would love to see if anyone has figured it out and if it is in use.

It would be great if the wishlist oculd be expanded to be like a 'quick reorder' list that my custoemrs can use to reup on a predefined shopping list at their convenience.....

    Re: Wish List help

I have it setup on my site...www.clothdiaperoutlet.americommerce.com.  Mine isn't in use yet but it's set up and ready to go.  It's not function for a gift registry, though, which is what I really need.  I may not use the wish list but for now it's there.

    Re: Wish List help

Heather that is a really nice website. Looks great! Did Donna set it up for you? She is the absolute best web design person I have ever dealt with, she is very talented.  Donna designed my templates.

The wish list is a gift registry, to me they are the exact same thing, but with different names. The ideal wishlist should include a function where you can email your wish list / gift registry to your friends.  Given that you are in a business where gift registrys are very popular (baby showers) this portion of your site is extremely important and something I would focus and capitalize on.

If I had a business that would profit on baby showers, bridal showers, etc. I would make up mailable registry certificates (postcard style) where the URL of the Gift Registry is typed in. These can then be mailed out to your customers and they can in turn mail those out to their friends along with shower invitations, as a matter of fact you can sell the shower invites with the gift registry URL on it. Keep in mind, most showers are planned by a friend of the person who is getting married, having a baby, etc. So, the planner will usually go for something like this if the work is already done for them. You can provide the entire service, all they would have to do is mail you a list of the people invited to the shower and you can take it from there. Just a thought.

Murdock, that is a great idea. I have never seen a list for repetetive purchases. This is certainly applicable in some types of businesses. While the registry could double for something like that, it would be ideal to have a shopping list where you can add your Favorites. This favorites list would have the product and the Add to Cart button next to it. Hell, you can even program a sequence for products that you would have auto-shipped on a monthly, biweekly, weekly, or bimonthly basis. This wouldn't be what I would call a traditional retail e commerce feature, but if you have wholesale customers, such a feature would be a really cool thing to have.

    Re: Wish List help

Louis - thank you for your advice and compliments.  My website was originally done by another designer and then I paid for AC to do a theme rollover.  My existing gift registry works beautifully and is a large component of my business.  I do have gift registry cards that I mail out.  I get them from Vista Print for next to nothing.  Makes it cost effective to mail them for free.

Murdock - I put in a support request about the wishlist feature and I have been referred for a dev share quote.

There are some good gift registry programs out there.  My Gift List is one...but I would prefer to keep my customer's accounts all in one place.  With something like MyGiftList, they'd have to have two accounts, one with me and one with MyGiftList, thus requiring them to login twice if they're working on their gift registry.
